New babies 9 days to 21 days are the best to capture those specific "sleepy" poses that we all love. During this window of time, babies are very sleepy, easily posed, less fussy, and have become accustomed to nursing.  It is during this time when baby will sleep and let us "mold" him/her into those delicate tiny poses that are special to newborn photography.  As newborns get older (14  days), they tend to be more challenging to pose and settle, may develop baby acne, and have longer wake periods. For these reasons, it is absolutely essential that the newborn session be scheduled early. We also photograph newborns up to 3 months old, more than likely they will be more alert but you can still get gorgeous images at any age.

Older babies is any time afterwards.

 

A sitting baby is around 6-8 months.
